Book Covers Project

This is a small personal project that I am doing. It started out as a week long college project, in which I had to shoot an image that could be used as a cover for 1984. I really enjoyed this project so I did a little more work on it and I want to keep working on it and shoot more book cover images so keep your eyes peeled.

George Orwell- 1984
The first image is meant to be a portrait of Winston Smith; the protagonist, played by my Dad. In the novel, Winston rebels against the police state but is captured and brainwashed and rejoins society as a hollow man stripped of emotion and independence and this image was meant to represent and show the character's depressions and emptiness, as well as show the cold, harsh, grey life he lives.
This second images is inspired by the world of 1984 in which England is now a futuristic police state constantly monitored Big Brother who is quoted as "...watching you" and was meant to show how protection can quickly turn into oppression.

Robert Louis Stevenson- The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
It is quite widely known that this book centres around the peaceful and logical Dr Jekyll and his violent and uncouth alternate personality Mr Hyde, who goes on several violent and lustful rampages, which are then covered up by Dr Jekyll the next morning. I have some more complicated ideas I want to try but for starters I edited one of the images of my Dad to show his alternate sides.
