NJDunn Photograhy: Costumes and Comics Project

This is my first long-running personal independent unit, in which I am aiming to create a series of images of models dressed as comic book characters reading comics about themselves.

This was inspired by a DC Comics poster that was meant to encourage reading in which the characters were reading comics, I was also inspired by a fellow photographer's series of images in which he got every model he worked with to pose with a comic at the end of their shoot. At the moment I am focusing on characters from the DC Universe, as I generally prefer DC to MARVEL and because DC has recently launched their New 52 Series in which each major hero has a #0 issue, in which the hero is bursting threw a white background. They also recently added a Villains Month; featuring issues with villains linked with heroes appearing on covers. I thought this would be a good way of linking the series together, as the comics would be visually linked.

I am hoping to create a large series of images that I will be constantly working on to get the best results and always looking expand upon. Hopefully next year, when the shooting conditions improve I will be able to add Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Supergirl, Catwoman, Robin and Poison Ivy to the rooster.
