Despite being very busy, stressed and tired by college decided that it was a good idea to give us another week long project for our Experience of Work Week. Our project was to shoot an image that could be used as the cover for a book and could be uploaded and sold on a Stock Library. I picked Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. I did a practice shoot in my college's studio, using silhouettes and selective light but soon realized that I wanted a dark, gritty and detailed, partially cropped headshot of an older model to pose as the main character; Winston Smith. I took this of my Dad in the kitchen using a 50mm lens and a SB-700 Speed-light attached with a Radio Slave. I did the shoot in half an hour, got some great images and went to bed early, then the next day I went into college and edited this in half an hour in the morning before my first class. So 1 hour on the job and created this and I am really proud of it. My motivation and work has dropped quite recently but producing such a strong image that I am really proud of has really helped me bounce back and feel far more confident about myself and my abilities.
